Personal Hunting Summary:

Mike Jenkins is a very accomplished Western big game hunter, professional guide and outdoorsman. He is considered an expert on western big game with a specialty in elk. Mike is a regular guest on two outdoor radio shows and has been featured in several hunting articles in magazines such as Petersen’s, Bow and Arrow hunting, NW hunter, Hunt Alaska and more. He has also been in many hunting television shows with Scott Haugen, Weston Clark, Rick and JulieKrueter, Will Primos and others. Mikes calling abilities as well as his overall knowledge of big game have earned him the spot on many Pro staff including Cabela’s, Bugling Bull calls, Eberlestock Packs, Havalon Knives and TracLace among others.Mike is a professional seminar speaker coast to coast with several educational topics on Western big game hunting.Mike was born in 1968 in the logging town of Chehalis, Washington. He spent his youth growing up in the coastal rainforest. Being the oldest of three boys, Mike spent many of his juvenile years following his dad through the rainy woods, learning how to fish, hunt and survive in the Pacific Northwest.

At an early age Mike became an accomplished hunter for Roosevelt elk and Blacktail deer while becoming an avid salmon, steelhead and trout fisherman along the way.Following the family tradition, Mike entered the logging industry after graduating high school. At the age of 18 his adventurous side led him to Alaska to work in the timber industry. This is where he experienced true wilderness at an entirely different level. Mike spent eight years working in remote SE Alaska where he hunted multiple Alaskan big game species and fished in some of the most remote and dangerous places in our country.

In 1994 Mike moved to Montana with his 4 children to pursue his passion for elk hunting. It was in Montana that Mike was noticed by, and became friends with hunting legends Jack Atcheson and Jim Zumbo. As he worked as a hunting guide in Montana, Mike mastered his calling skills and began evolving into, not just a guide, but a known competition caller and professional speaker. During the spring and summer months he worked as a fly fishing guide in western Montana and attended sport shows throughout the west.

In the late 1990’s Mike made his way south to New Mexico and Arizona where he started guiding hunters in our country’s top elk units. Following his dreams, in 2004 Mike started his own guide service, naming it Upfront Outfitters. Mike professionally guides and hunts over nine big game species all across the Western US and Alaska.

When Mike is not hunting he enjoys spending valuable time with his wife Kirstin, and as much time as possible with his children and grandchildren. You will also find Mike teaching and encouraging youths and new adults to become more involved in the outdoors at any capacity.
